Designed by Roy Grønneberg and Bill Adams in 1969 to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Shetland's transfer from Norway to Scotland, the flag mirrors the colors of the Scottish flag in a Nordic cross form. This landscape Shetland flag is a high-quality product made in Germany from 110g/m² glossy polyester. This Shetland flag is wind- and weather-resistant and highly durable. The vibrant flag colors are UV-resistant and remain brilliant throughout extended outdoor exposure.

The flag of Shetland gracefully showcases a vibrant intermediate blue, dominating the design at 70%, beautifully contrasted by the pure, crisp white that elegantly occupies the remaining 30%.

This Shetland flag will be delivered with a double safety-seam as well as with two metal eyelets for hoisting on the flagpole. The metal eyelets offer maximum flexibility for mounting on any standard flagpole. The mast side is reinforced with a white hem. The reinforced bunting and the metal eyelets provide long-term durability of this Shetland flag. If required, the flag can be washed at 60 degrees Celsius.
